I've added the speaker as a Bluetooth device, meaning that my laptop is at least recognising it as a Bluetooth device. However, when I go to connect to the speaker I get the message: 'That didn't work. Make sure your Bluetooth device is still discoverable, then try again.' These same devices work flawlessly when connected to my phone.
Unfortunately, it’s a hit or miss in Linux. I haven’t had Bluetooth working out of the box across the range of hardware and distros I have tried. But usually once you’ve installed a few packages and made a few tweaks, everything works flawlessly, at least that has been my experience. So if you’ve had trouble connecting to your Bluetooth accessories from your Linux PC, this post should help. Getting StartedFirst, you need to install the required packages on your computer. If you’re on Ubuntu or an Ubuntu-based distro, run the following command. Sudo apt-get install bluemanOnce the installation is complete, launch the Bluetooth Manager from your applications launcher.By default, your Bluetooth device is hidden. You need to make it visible so that it can be discovered by other devices.Go to “Adaptor - Preferences” and change the visibility setting to “Always visible” or “Temporarily visible,” whichever you prefer.
You can also set a name for your Bluetooth device. This name is what will show up when other Bluetooth devices discover your PC.Next, start scanning for Bluetooth devices by clicking “Search” and wait for a few moments for the scan to complete. All visible and discoverable Bluetooth devices will be listed in the Bluetooth manager.Pairing and Connecting to DevicesNow you should be able to pair and connect to your Bluetooth devices without breaking a sweat. Here’s how to connect to an Android device, for example.1. Right-click the relevant entry on the list and click “Pair.” This will initialise a pairing request which the other device will have to accept.2. Next, enter a PIN code in the dialog box and click OK. A four digit number should do.3. Finally, go to your Android device and enter the same pin to confirm the pairing. If everything goes well, the devices will be paired, and a new lock icon will appear on the device’s entry.
On your Android device, your laptop should also appear under the “Paired devices” section.Sending and Receiving FilesTo send files to your smartphone, right-click the device and click “Send file” from the context menu. Next, select the file you want to send. A notification will appear on your phone asking you to confirm you want to receive the file. You can also receive files from your smartphone in a similar manner. Just make sure to initialise the transaction from your smartphone and confirm receipt on your computer. Using a Bluetooth HeadsetPairing with your Bluetooth headset should be easy enough.
You do not need a PIN code here, so it should pair automatically once you send the request to pair the devices. Next, right-click the entry for the headset and connect to “Handsfree.”.
Good morning all!I upgraded my cell phone without realizing that there are smart phones out there that are not compatible with the FitBit. Anyway, I have a Windows 10 laptop. I plugged in the dongle, logged into FitBit and tried to sync.
I looked up info and it said to be sure to pair the FitBit with the computer. I went into settings and bluetooth on my computer. It finds 2 unknown devices. I tried to pair each one in the hopes that one was my FitBit, but it will not pair. It says to be sure my device is still discoverable. I've reset my FitBit, turned off my computer and tried again.
I've tried on different days to no avail. My FitBit is less than a year old so I would really like to continue using it. Any advice to get it to pair to my computer? Thanks in advance!Michelle. Don't know why the link above doesn't display.
Here is the post in full below:Good day all. Like many of the people here, I have a Charge HR that refused to sync or get updates from my computer. My computer would Pair the Charge HR, and the app would find it. But when it tried to update the Charge HR, it just sat at 'updating' forever and continually restarted. I tried EVERYTHING listed in these threads, but not one thread offered me a solution that actually worked.I tried:. factory reset of the Charge HR. reset of the Charge HR.
disable/enable bluetooth on computer. uninstall/reinstall app. start sync over from where it last left off.
anything else listed in the forums. It finally dawned on me, that the only thing I didn't try was to update my bluetooth drivers on my computers (Windows 10). Go to Device Manager, Bluetooth. Right click on your Bluetooth device (for me it was Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R)) and select 'Update Driver', then 'Search automatically'.
There was an update! I'm now at Driver version 20.10.0.9. After the system updated, I rebooted.I removed the Charge HR pairing with Bluetooth in Windows, removed the Charge HR from my devices in the FB app, and began the 'Add a device' procedure within the FB app again. This time.
The device started syncing and continued syncing! It didn't restart every few seconds. It got to the point where it went to 50% and stopped, but the others solutions listed here for that issue worked after that.So for those of you who can't even get the thing to sync at all, try updating your bluetooth drivers.
It worked for me.Good luck. Thought I'd share. Hi, and it's great to see you around. And welcome to the Forums!Hi, and congrats on your new Fitbit, I'm sure you will love them as soon as you start using it! Thanks a million for the steps that you already tried. Have you checked the to connect with Fitbit. If your laptop has native Bluetooth please reboot it and make sure it is up to date as that might help, then go to the Fitbit App and try to.
If your Fitbit is not responding, it and try one more time.At the end if your laptop is you have the option to use a mobile device or use a as an alternative for your laptop. You can visit the to see how to get one.In your case you're using the instructions for a different program called but if your laptop is running Windows 10 you can go to the Store and download the Fitbit App Log in Account Set up.
Here you will find some other tips on how to set up your Fitbit:Thanks for your comment, you're right sometimes if your Fitbit is connected via Bluetooth with your computer it has a hard time connecting with other devices, it is not always but some computers shows that issue. Thanks a million for sharing that post, it's great to know that you are here to help others! Keep posting around!Hope this helps. I had my Charge HR sincing perfectly on my old Windows 7 laptop, but recently replaced it with a Lenovo Yoga running Windows 10. In 5 months, my HR Charge has never sinced with my Windows 10 laptop. I've followed all the instructions I can find on the various forums with no success. I have an old One fitbit that will sinc using the FitBit app on Windows 10, but not my Charge HR. I've given up on the FitBit app and uninstalled it from my laptop and was hoping to just use the wireless dongle to sinc - but even that does not work.
Are you aware of any known issues with using the dongle to sinc on a Windows 10 laptop? (I plugged the dongle into my husband's Windows 7 laptop and it still sincs perfectly using FitBit Connect.). Hi, welcome to the Forums. It's nice to see you here. Thanks for all the steps that you've tried to connect your Charge HR. I haven't heard any issues with Windows 10 not syncing with this model or with Fitbit Connect, as you mentioned that it was still syncing with your Fitbit One I think that it might be that your Charge HR is having software issues. Why don't you follow these steps with your Charge HR and to avoid syncing issues with any other tracker make sure to have only this one on room:. Go to Settings Bluetooth on your PC to see a list of associated Bluetooth devices. This list might contain only your Fitbit device or also include devices like wireless speakers, headsets, etc.
Tap the name of your Fitbit device and choose 'Forget This Device' or 'Disconnect' (exact language will differ depending on your operating system). Reboot the Bluetooth (Off/On). your Fitbit tracker. Go to your Fitbit App Account Choose your Fitbit tracker Delete and force quite the Fitbit App. Open the Fitbit App again and choose Set up a Device and follow the steps on the screen.Let me know if you need anything else.
